20 Spring Essentials You Need in D.C.
There’s something about spring in DC — cherry blossoms, rooftop brunches, and warm weather. As a beauty blogger, I’ve basically mastered the art of carrying everything I need for a flawless, on-the-go day in the city.
Whether I’m heading to a Georgetown café to edit content or hopping off the Metro for a casual museum day, these are the essentials I always keep with me. If you live in DC or another big city, you might want to steal a few of these recs for yourself.

I’m not risking sun damage, even on cloudy days, so I always have a skin tint with sun protection on hand — especially for touch-ups between errands.
I keep one in every bag. Right now I’m obsessed with the Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm — super moisturizing and super cute.
3. Reusable Water Bottle (That Actually Looks Cute)
Hydration is the aesthetic. I keep a pastel Hydro Flask or Stanley quencher in my tote at all times — because glowing skin starts within.
A fresh spritz can seriously boost your mood. I love something floral and light like Glossier You.
Because squinting = fine lines. Plus, they add an effortless look to any outfit.
Between filming, taking selfies, and scrolling online for brunch recs, my phone battery *never* survives a full day in the city without a quick charge.
7. Blotting Sheets or Compact Powder
Shout out to my oily skin girls. I always keep Fenty Beauty Invisimatte and oil blotting sheets on standby to keep my T-zone under control.
8. Hand Cream
A little moment of moisturizing between cleaning my hands with handsanitizer. I love L’Occitane.
For to-do lists, content ideas, blog posts or random poetry inspired by the National Mall. Call me dramatic, but pen and paper just hit differently.
10. Facial Mist
Nothing revives my skin like a midday spritz. I personally like rose water for a skin boost on the go.
11. Granola Bar
DC exploring = hunger strikes randomly. I always keep a GoMacro bar or something protein-packed that won’t melt in my bag.
This is DC, not LA — and April showers do happen. I keep a cute, compact umbrella in my tote for surprise drizzles.
Whether I hit a farmers market or a random bookstore, having a reusable tote inside my main tote = elite adulting move.
14. Book
For solo park walks and Metro rides, a good book is perfect. Right now I’m reading all about love by bell hooks (and yes, it’s transforming my viewpoint on love).
15. Hand Sanitizer
Because we’re still keeping it clean out here — but make it chic. I keep touchland mist sanitizer at the bottom of my bag.
For quick touch-ups or checking my hair, a cute vintage-inspired compact always feels a little extra — in the best way.
17. Film Camera
For those “I romanticize my life” photo dumps. Digital is cool, but nothing beats the vibe of candid spring snapshots at the Tidal Basin or Eastern Market.
18. Metro Card
Even when I am driving in the city, I always carry a metro card because it’s just so much easier to park somewhere and get on the metro. It’s a perfect transportation solution for the times when the night just continues.
19. Claritin / nasal spray
The pollen in the city has been severe this year. Having some medicine to alleviate the sinus irritation of being outside is always the way to go.
20. Cash
You may be surprised by what places and parking garages only take cash payment in 2025. Having cash on hand for payment and tipping is a must.
There’s nothing like springtime in Washington, DC — and having the right things in your tote can turn an ordinary day into something extraordinary. From skincare to snacks, every item in my bag is there to help me feel fresh, prepared, and fabulous.
Now You’re ready for anything Spring in DC throws your way!
